Visual Arts

In Visual Arts, students are provided with conceptual and practical artistic understanding, techniques, skills and the ability to apply them to their own creative art pieces.

Through the program, students learn about the seven elements of art including line, shape, form, colour, value, texture and space. Students learn to use these elements to develop their artistic abilities and understanding of them as being crucial both creating and appreciating artwork.

The curriculum supports the development of creative processes and practices providing insights into the impact culture can have on ways of knowing, doing and being Australian as well as a global citizen. Students learn to develop conceptual and perceptual ideas through inquiry process, critical and creative thinking skills, confidence, curiosity, imagination and enjoyment through personal expression. All students are provided with a one-hour intensive Visual Arts lesson a week to develop their knowledge, skills and techniques.
