AUSLAN – Our Second Language

We are proud to offer AUSLAN (Australian Sign Language) as our second language. AUSLAN is a rich, expressive language that helps connect people within our school and the wider community.

Learning AUSLAN gives students more than a new way to communicate, it builds inclusion, empathy, and respect for diversity. Our students develop a practical and meaningful skill they can use well beyond their time at Stocky and into the broader community.

We see AUSLAN as a valuable life skill that helps students become confident, caring, and connected learners, and we’re proud to teach a language that truly brings people together.

What Our Students Say

Annnika, Prep H 2025

In Auslan, I love learning how to sign the colours of the rainbow and sing the rainbow song.

Judd, 2W 2025

We do Auslan so we can communicate with people who can’t hear or talk. My favourite part is practising the National Anthem in Auslan for Assembly.

Maddi, 3/4WB 2025

I like Auslan, because I feel like I know a lot about it and I can communicate with Jaxon (a child in our class) better.
