Instructional Model

We are committed to teaching excellence, where every child is supported to learn, grow, and succeed. Our teachers use evidence-based instructional approaches, including Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) and the Gradual Release of Responsibility model, to make learning clear, purposeful, and accessible for all students.

These approaches provide a strong structure for learning. Teachers begin by clearly explaining and modelling new skills and concepts, ensuring every student understands what they are learning and why it matters. Students then practise these skills with teacher guidance before moving towards independent application. This step-by-step approach helps all learners; whether they need additional support, are working at grade level, or are ready to be extended to achieve their personal best.

Our focus on teaching excellence means families can expect consistency across classrooms from Prep through to Year 6: clear learning goals, high expectations, engaging lessons, and a genuine belief that every student can succeed.

At Stocky, great teaching, high expectations, and a culture of care come together to give every child the best opportunity to thrive.
