This week, our students have been proudly celebrating NAIDOC Week and this year’s theme, 50 years of NAIDOC celebrations and the phrase “50 Years of Deadly“.
We are incredibly fortunate to have Mrs Ryan sharing her culture, knowledge and experiences with our students. Throughout the week, students have had the opportunity to explore a range of Aboriginal artefacts and learn about their significance, deepening their understanding and appreciation of First Nations cultures and histories.
One particularly meaningful experience was receiving a traditional blessing with ochre. Students approached this experience with respect and curiosity, gaining valuable insight into the cultural importance of ochre and its connection to identity, Country and community.
We thank Mrs Ryan for sharing her culture with us and helping our students learn, connect and celebrate the world’s oldest continuing cultures.
